Novamatic 2000

Novamatic is a program designed to create graphic effects known as novas.

Novamatic can create 3 types of novas:

• Globular
• Rays
• Supernova

Start using Novamatic

In order to use an image with Novamatic, it is necessary to be in Windows BMP format. For example, if your image is in JPG format, Novamatic will not be able to open it. If you do not have an image format converter, there are many freeware utilities available on the web. You could start looking for them at:

• download.com
• simtelnet
• winfiles.com

Once you have your image in Windows BMP format, you can open it by using the File menu in Novamatic.

Use the tabbed section on the left part of the window to select between the 3 types of novas.

Select your desired colour by clicking on the colour button.

At first, it is recommended to leave the default settings of each effect.

To create the effect in the image, left click on the image. The place where you click will be the center of the effect.

Customizing the effects

Densities

Every effect can use one of the two densities available:

• Gaussian: Generally faster, with the effect more concentrated towards the center of the nova.
• Cauchy: Generally slower, with the effect less concentrated towards the center of the nova.

Globular effect

• Intensity: It is the strength of the effect. If set to a low value, the effect will be dim. Higher values will produce brighter and stronger results.
• Radius: It is the size of the effect.

Rays effect

• Intensity: It is the strength of the effect. If set to a low value, the effect will be dim. Higher values will produce brighter and stronger results.
• Radius: It is the size of the effect.
• Spokes: Affects the number of spokes.
• Breadth: This setting is to regulate the breadth of each spoke.

Globular effect

• Intensity: It is the strength of the effect. If set to a low value, the effect will be dim. Higher values will produce brighter and stronger results.
• Radius: It is the size of the effect.
• Spokes: Affects the "spikiness" of the effect.
• Core: Used to change the size of the white inner globular core.
